GreenBoma Landscaping
Professional cabro paving and installation services in Nairobi. We design and install high-quality interlocking paving stones for driveways, pathways, patios, and commercial parking areas — starting from KES 1,800 per sqm.
Cabro paving — also known as interlocking concrete block paving (ICBP) — is one of the most durable, versatile, and visually impressive surfacing solutions available for residential and commercial properties in Kenya. At Green Boma, we specialise in the professional supply and installation of cabro paving across Nairobi and its surrounding areas, including Karen, Kilimani, Westlands, Lavington, Runda, Muthaiga, Parklands, and Kiambu.
Whether you are looking to pave a driveway that can withstand heavy vehicles, create an elegant garden pathway, or develop a hardwearing commercial parking bay, cabro blocks offer a solution that combines structural strength with aesthetic appeal. Unlike poured concrete or asphalt, interlocking cabro can be individually replaced if a block cracks or shifts, making it a far more cost-effective long-term investment.
Our driveway installations are engineered to support the full weight of cars, SUVs, and light trucks. We use appropriate sub-base materials, compacted hardcore, and correctly graded sharp sand to ensure your driveway does not sink, crack, or shift over time. We offer herringbone, basket weave, and running bond patterns that add character to your property's entrance.
Pathway paving transforms the usability and visual flow of your garden. We install neat, level pathways connecting different garden zones — from the gate to the house, around flower beds, or between lawn areas. We combine cabro with grass joints, pebbles, or stepping stones to create designs that complement your overall landscaping theme.
An outdoor patio extends your living space into the garden. Green Boma designs and installs patio areas that are level, well-drained, and suited to outdoor furniture, barbecue setups, and family gatherings. We incorporate gentle gradients to channel rainwater away from the house and use patterns and border designs to frame the space attractively.
For businesses, apartment complexes, offices, and hotels, we install high-specification commercial-grade cabro designed to handle frequent heavy traffic. Commercial installations include proper drainage channels, wheel stops, and can be combined with line markings to define parking bays efficiently.
We pave perimeter walkways around homes and office buildings, which serve a dual purpose — providing a clean walking surface and creating a foundation for security lighting installations. These perimeter paths also act as a buffer that reduces soil erosion against building foundations.
Green Boma follows a rigorous installation process to ensure every cabro project meets the highest quality standards and lasts for decades with minimal maintenance.
Our team visits your property to assess the area, take measurements, understand your intended use (foot traffic, vehicle traffic, or mixed), and discuss your design preferences. We advise on the most suitable block type, thickness, pattern, and colour scheme.
The area is excavated to the correct depth — typically 200-350mm depending on load requirements. All loose material, roots, and debris are removed to create a stable base.
We lay and compact a layer of hardcore (crushed stone or murram) to the specified depth and compact it using a plate compactor or roller. The sub-base is the most critical element of a long-lasting cabro installation.
A 30-40mm layer of sharp river sand is screeded evenly over the sub-base to provide the precise bedding on which the cabro blocks are laid. The sand layer is levelled and graded for drainage.
Blocks are laid by hand in the agreed pattern, starting from a straight edge or string line. Cut blocks are used to fill edges and corners. Border blocks or soldier courses are installed where required.
Once all blocks are laid, we compact the entire surface using a plate compactor fitted with a rubber base to avoid chipping. Fine kiln-dried sand is then brushed into the joints and a final compaction pass locks everything in place.
Our supervisor walks through the completed area with the client, checks levels, drainage flow, and the quality of jointing before signing off the project. A maintenance guide is provided at handover.
Green Boma provides cabro paving services across all of Nairobi and its environs, including Karen, Kilimani, Westlands, Lavington, Runda, Muthaiga, Parklands, South C, South B, Langata, Ngong Road, Kiambu, Thika Road, Ruaka, and Syokimau.
We stock the correct block thickness for every application — from light-use garden pathways to heavy-duty commercial parking areas in Nairobi. The right block thickness is the single most important factor in a long-lasting cabro installation.
A strong, properly compacted sub-base is what separates a cabro installation that lasts 30 years from one that sinks and shifts within 12 months. Every Green Boma quote includes full excavation and hardcore compaction — we never skip this critical step.
The pattern you choose affects both the visual appearance and the structural performance of the paving. Our team advises on the best pattern for driveways, patios, and pathways in Nairobi properties, taking into account traffic direction and load distribution.
Unlike poured concrete or asphalt, interlocking cabro allows individual damaged blocks to be lifted and replaced without disturbing the surrounding surface. This dramatically reduces long-term maintenance costs for Nairobi homeowners and commercial property managers.
Nairobi's heavy tropical rains require thoughtful drainage design in all hardscaping. We offer permeable jointing systems that allow rainwater to percolate through the paved surface, reducing surface run-off and the risk of pooling on driveways and patios.
Our commercial installations use 100mm blocks with reinforced sub-base specifications designed for repeated loading by delivery vehicles, buses, and heavy goods trucks. We serve hotels, office parks, apartment complexes, and industrial facilities across Nairobi.
Contrasting border blocks, soldier courses, and decorative inlay patterns transform functional paving into a design feature. We offer a range of block colours and edge profiles to complement your property's architectural style and landscaping.
Every Green Boma cabro installation is backed by a 10-year structural guarantee. If paving sinks, shifts, or fails due to an installation fault within that period, we return and rectify the problem at no cost. This is our commitment to quality in every project across Nairobi.
Our cabro specialist visits your Nairobi property, takes precise measurements of the area to be paved, assesses the existing ground condition and drainage, and discusses your pattern preferences, block type, and timeline. This visit is completely free and carries no obligation.
Following the site visit, we provide a written quote breaking down block supply, sub-base materials, labour, and any additional items such as drainage channels or edging. A simple layout drawing showing the proposed pattern and borders is included.
The paving area is cleared of all existing surface material, grass, and topsoil. We excavate to the correct depth for the intended use — typically 250mm for a standard driveway in Nairobi — ensuring a stable, uniform base for the sub-base layer.
Crushed stone hardcore is laid in 100mm layers and compacted using a plate compactor or roller. Compacting in layers is critical to achieving uniform density and preventing uneven settlement. This is the most important stage of the entire installation.
A 30-40mm layer of sharp river sand is screeded to a precise gradient over the sub-base. The gradient is designed to channel rainwater away from buildings and towards drainage outlets, preventing pooling on the finished surface during Nairobi's heavy rainy seasons.
Blocks are laid by hand, starting from a fixed string line or existing straight edge. Border and soldier-course blocks are placed first to define the perimeter. All cut blocks are made with a hydraulic block splitter or disc cutter for clean, precise edges
Once all blocks are placed, the entire surface is compacted using a plate compactor fitted with a rubber base pad to prevent chipping. Fine kiln-dried jointing sand is then spread and brushed into all joints, locking the blocks together and completing the interlocking structure.
Our site supervisor carries out a thorough final inspection — checking levels with a spirit level, verifying drainage gradient, and reviewing joint filling quality. All debris and off-cuts are removed from site, and you receive a written handover with maintenance guidance and your 10-year guarantee.
